Brain Agility Programs The Brain Agility Programs provide packaged presentations and materials that allow you and your organization to offer Brain Agility to your community with a modest amount of effort. Two programs are available: - Seven-Week Brain Agility Program - Brain Agility in a Nutshell Seven-Week Brain Agility Program The Seven-Week Brain Agility Program offers weekly topics and a discussion of one day's exercises. During each week of the program, participants do four days of exercises individually and one presented in class. This format provides the greatest structure and incentive to follow through. In addition the social interaction can be of considerable benefit for cognitive functioning. A research study found measurable benefits from a similar mental exercise program five years after completion of the program. The seven-week program has been offered in California, Oregon, and Washington by retirement centers, senior centers, YMCAs, a hospital, and a community financial institution. Participant evaluations have been very favorable. Over 90% indicate improvement in memory and feeling mentally sharper. Over 90% indicate being satisfied or very satisfied with the program and all of the participants have indicated that they would recommend it to others. Organizations have continued to schedule additional classes. A substantial set of materials is available to enable staff and volunteers of organizations to conduct classes with minimal preparatory effort. This includes narrated 45 to 50 minute presentations for each of the classes in both DVD and PowerPoint formats and a presenter's manual containing: - general guidelines and suggestions - class outlines and timelines - class handouts - promotional materials - evaluation materials The handouts and promotional and evaluation materials are also provided in Microsoft Word format for ease in modification. A workbook format of Brain Agility has been developed for use in the seven-week program. The workbook offers a larger (8.5"x11") format with larger margins and and a coil binding that lies flat when opened. This format also allows participants who have personal rules against writing in books to write in a workbook. Brain Agility in a Nutshell Brain Agility in a Nutshell is a single introductory presentation that is well suited to organizations that would like to involve members or the community in Brain Agility but prefer not to conduct a seven-week program. This 1½ to 2 hour presentation introduces Brain Agility and brain health and describes the exercises and strategies for working with them. Thus provides participants a sound basis for continuing on their own or in exercise groups organized by the presenting organization or informally by participants. A DVD, presenter's guidelines and one copy of Brain Agility are included in the presenter's materials. A Power Point option is available. Promotional materials are available in Microsoft Word format for ease in modification. Those continuing with the exercises following the single introductory presentation may use the standard paperback version of Brain Agility or may prefer to use the coil-bound workbook.
