Seven-Week Brain Agility Program
A seven-week program based on Brain Agility has been created in DVD and PowerPoint formats in order to allow a wide variety of organizations to offer brain agility classes. Participants of Brain Agility classes have been very favorable in their evaluation of the program. Over 90% indicated improvement in memory and in feelings of being mentally sharp. Over 90% indicated being satisfied or very satisfied with the program and all of the participants have indicated that they would recommend the class to others. Some participants are now presenters and the organizations initially offering classes have continued to schedule additional classes. The topics of the Brain Agility classes are: Class 1:    Introduction to the Brain Agility Program    Descriptions of the exercises    Strategies for working with exercises Class 2:    Brain structure and brain aging    How brain aging can be forestalled and reversed    Day 5 exercises Class 3:    Brain aging and nutrition: Eating wisely    Day 10 exercises Class 4:    Brain aging and physical exercise    Day 15 exercises Class 5:    Brain aging and stress: Relaxing brain and body    Day 20 exercises Class 6:    Memory and the brain    Strategies for improving memory    Day 25 exercises Class 7:    Resources for continuing mental exercise    Day 30 exercises The Seven-Week Brain Agility Program can be offered by organizations and individual presenters for brain health classes or by trainers working with individuals. Class settings, such as community centers, senior centers, or retirement communities, offer opportunities for discussion and sharing as well as social interaction which has been shown to be of considerable benefit for maintaining cognitive functioning. A substantial set of materials has been developed to enable presenters to conduct classes with minimal preparatory effort. This includes narrated presentations for each of the classes in both DVD and PowerPoint formats. In addition a one-hour stand-alone introduction to Brain Agility is provided in both DVD and PowerPoint formats. The presentation materials also include a presenter's manual containing: general guidelines and suggestions, class outlines, class handouts, promotional materials, and evaluation materials. For ease in reproduction and modification, materials from the presenter's manual are also provided in Microsoft Word format on a CD-Rom together with a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for analysis of the evaluation forms. A workbook format of Brain Agility has been developed for use in the seven-week program. This is distributed to participants in sections which avoids feelings of being overwhelmed by the complete book at once, synchronizes participants to work on the same set of exercises each week, allows participants who have personal rules against writing in books to write in a workbook, and provides an incentive to attend each class in order to receive the next set of exercises. The workbook is published in a 3-ring binder with a cover that may be customized for a particular presenting organization or presenter. The price of the workbook with binder is $27.50 plus shipping. The set of presentation materials containing the DVD and PowerPoint presentations, the presenter's manual, and one copy of the Brain Agility workbook is available for $100 plus $10 shipping in the U.S..
